Brice Hortefeux

Brice Hortefeux , born the May 11th 1958 with Neuilly-sur-Seine, is a Politician French.

Wire of a Banking of Neuilly-sur-Seine, and of a Professor of History-geography having created the center " retravailler" with Clermont-Ferrand, it obtains its license of Private law in 1982, its control in public Droit in 1984, then is pupil with the Institut of political studies of Paris, which it leaves without diploma in 1986 following his success to the external contest territorial Administrator.

Very near friendly to Nicolas Sarkozy since 1976, it is regarded as its principal lieutenant. Political career

Following the resignation of Nicolas Sarkozy of the presidency of the UMP the May 14th 2007, it takes of it the presidency by Intérim, at the sides of Jean-Claude Gaudin and Pierre Méhaignerie.

Course

Principal private secretary of the mayor of Neuilly-sur-Seine between 1983 and 1986, territorial administrator (posts some with the town hall of Neuilly-sur-Seine) between 1986 and 1993, he is then chief of the cabinet of Nicolas Sarkozy, Minister for the Budget and Government spokesman of 1993 with 1995.

In 1995, it is named Préfet, is responsible for a public service mission concerned with the government, then operations manager with the cabinet of the president of the Sénat between 1998 and 1999.

Ministerial functions

Deputy secretary with the territorial collectivities

June 2nd 2005 with the May 15th 2007, he is deputy secretary with the territorial collectivities near the minister of state (Minister of Interior Department) in the Gouvernement Dominique de Villepin. It has in particular the mission of concretely setting up act II of the Décentralisation and the realization of an important reform of the statute of the territorial public function.

Minister for Immigration, Integration, the National identity and Codéveloppement

The victory of Nicolas Sarkozy to the presidential of 2007 enables him to become Minister for Immigration, Integration, the National identity and Codéveloppement within the new government of Francois Fillon. It then leaves its functions of deputy general secretary of UMP, replaced by Patrick Devedjian. It is then named political adviser of UMP by Jean-Claude Gaudin.

He was the promoter of the Loi of control of adopted immigration on October 23rd, 2007, which mainly supplements the Sarkozy laws of 2003 and 2006. This law limits in particular the Family gathering.

It fixes at the forces about the targets in precise figure as regards expulsions and renewed at the border: 25.000 in 2007,26 000 in 2008 and 28.000 in 2010.

Elective functions

Since the May 18th 2007, he is Minister for immigration, integration, the national identity and codéveloppement of the government Francois Fillon.

On Friday, November 30, 2007, by an official statement sent to the newspaper the Mountain , it gives up being presented to the municipal election in Clermont-Ferrand in March 2008.
