the castle of Bryas

Quoted as of the Early middle ages, the family of Bryas did not cease having the ground. The primitive castle rose close to the current funerary vault. Destroyed on the order of Henri II, when Artois was Spanish, it was rebuilt thereafter on the same site. At the end of the Old Mode, the count de Bryas decided the construction of the current castle on imposing levels and in a style which points out the manner of Telling lvry. The large walls were not completed when the Revolution stopped work, which was resumed only under the Empire, and were not finished in 1820.

Located in 1914-18 near the face, the castle sheltered the General headquarter of the Foch marshal during the battle of Artois. There also came king Albert, king GeorgeV and the kings of Serbia and Montenegro. In 1940-44, it is Goering which inspected the center of Luftwaffe installed in the castle. The park is still encumbered many built concreted shelters at that time, and almost indestructibles.
