Brian May
Brian Harold May is the Guitariste British group of Rock Queen.
Biography and musical career
Born the July 19th 1947 in Hampton (England), it is one of the founding members of the group Queen and formed already part of the group Smile with, at the time, Tim Staffel with the song, that Freddie Mercury replaces with its departure. His/her father, engineer, assistance to manufacture his clean Electric guitar, which it calls “ Red Special ”. It was intended first of all for long studies in the field of the Physique and the Astronomie. The success met by the Queen group obliges it to put its research activities outstanding whereas it prepares a thesis of doctorate to the Imperial College of London. Within group, Brian May also composes of many songs, of which the tubes " We Will You" Rock'n'roll; , " Hammer To Fall" , " I Want It All" or " The Show Must Go On".
Since the death of Freddie Mercury in 1991, Brian May recorded three albums solo: Back to the light (1992) followed by a world tour Back to the light turn with Brian May Band and Another World (1998). He also wrote the music of the film Furia in 2000. It is there its only film music as an artist solo, Brian May of the Mad max and other film original soundtracks being an Australian homonym. Where Back to the Light falls under the musical line of the albums of Queen, the album Another World is as for him more personal and dark. Brian May will be of more affected by the death of his/her friend Cozy Powell, beater on this album, the April 5th 1998, little before its coming out date. Moreover, in 1996, it belongs to the Guitar hero are chosen by the Batteur Carmine Appice for its project Guitar Zeus . May appears as a cover for individual drawn from this album: Nobody Knew (Black White House) .
Brian May continues, with Roger Taylor, beater of Queen, work of adaptation and production, with for example the musical comedy We Will Rock You, without forgetting occasional representations as for the jubilee of the queen Elisabeth II.
In 2005, the two remaining members of Queen meet for a round through the Europe and the Japan like two dates with New York and Los Angeles, with the song Paul Rodgers, Dany Miranda with low and Spike Edney with the keyboard. In October 2006, Brian May, Roger Taylor and Paul Rodgers enter in studio, under the name of Queen + Paul Rodgers, to record the first album of Queen without Freddie Mercury.
He announces on July 24th, 2007 his intention to support “in the two weeks” his thesis in Astrophysique, 30 years after to have begun it, have entitled radial Vélocités in the cloud of dust zodiacal . He gave his thesis to the Imperial College of London. He in addition recently wrote a work with two British astronomers of reputation on the Big Bang and the evolution of the universe.
He obtains his doctorate on August 23rd, 2007, at the conclusion of his oral examination. Its thesis of 48.000 words had been garaged in the attic of its house of Surrey in 1974 when it had given up its studies to be devoted to the Queen group. After nine months of additional research, Brian May had given its thesis on August 3rd. Its thesis shows that the clouds of dust of the solar system move in the same direction as planets. It is named president of the university John Moores of Liverpool to the end of the year 2007. Brian May is married with the actress Anita Dobson, it has 3 children of a preceding union.
