Breton company of Vexillologie

Founded on June 23rd, 1996, the Breton Company of Vexillologie , member of FIAV (International federation of Vexillologiques Associations) since 1997, gathers impassioned flags and of history, of Brittany, but also of France, Great Britain, the United States…

Principal goals of association

To make the most exhaustive possible compilation flags of the cities, country, associations and institutions of Brittany, passed and present;
to ensure of It information the public and the safeguard for the posterity, by the publication of a bulletin;
To propose at the Breton municipalities and institutions the creation of flags vexillologiquement correct;
To fight of all its forces against the logomanie, true cancer of the vexillography in Brittany;
To contribute its share to the safeguard and the development of the Breton national cultural heritage.

Actions

The SBV is in the beginning many new Breton flags. Among most known, one can quote the flag bigouden which made its entry on the international scene at the time of the revolt of the sailor-fishermen in 1994. One also must with association, and especially with Philippe Rault, the revival of the first Breton historical emblem: the Kroaz of the, or Black Cross, whose relationship with Banner SEN-Pyran, flag of insular Cornouailles is obvious. In the active of association, one can still quote a poster on the Breton flags.

The SBV meets several times per annum, organizes a Congress every two years, and sends a delegation to the Congresses of FIAV, which also take place every two years.
