Breton Sluice

The Pertuis Breton is a Détroit located between the north-eastern coast of the Ile de Ré and the continent.

This strait gives to the North-West on the Atlantic Ocean with broad of the Sand-with Olonne and finishes, in its south-eastern part, by bay of the Pivot (mouth of the Niort Sèvre) towards the north and the bridge of the Ile de Ré towards the south.

On the continent, the main cities are:

  • the Section-on-Sea,
  • the Fault-on-Sea,
  • the Pivot-on-Sea.

The Conchyliculture is strongly present on the two coasts bordering the Breton Sluice, and, more precisely, the breeding of moulds of mussel beds.
