Brentwood is a district of Los Angeles, in California.
Situation
Located at the foot of the Mounts Santa Monica, Brentwood is bordered by Pacific Palisades in the West, Santa Monica in South-west, West Los Angeles in the South, Sawtelle in South-east, Westwood in the East, Beautiful-Air in the North-East and Encino in North.
History
The current site of Brentwood formed formerly part of Rancho San Vicente there Santa Monica, a Spanish ranch sold in batches to the Anglo-Saxons after the defeat of Mexico in the Mexican war américano.Occupied by agricultural land (soya, lawyers etc) at the time of its annexation in Los Angeles in 1916, the district of Brentwood counts from now on among more cossus of and one of the most snuffed West of the city. It accommodates prosperous retail parks along its main axes of circulation (Wilshire Boulevard, Sunset Boulevard) and it is mainly inhabited by populations of frameworks and liberal professions.
Environment
Brentwood, just as Santa Monica which is next to it, enjoys a soft climate supplied with marine breezes which come from the Pacific Ocean. Very often, the district awakes bathed by a " lay down marine" , a bed of clouds which is formed the night and is dissipated in the middle of the morning. The topography of the place marks a clear division into two, on both sides of Sunset Boulevard, with in North the crumpling of the Mount Santa Monica forming an undulating zone and in the South, a plane zone. The latter (just as the districts close to Westgate-Sawtelle) contains underground sources which spout out in a small river, near of the golf course. San Vicente Boulevard is the main artery (the " Street" hand; American) of Brentwood.
Demography
In 2000, Brentwood counted a little less than 42.000 inhabitants, with the following ethnic composition: White: 80%, Asian: 9%, Hispanic: 6%. Brentwood also accommodates an important Iranian community.The languages most spoken in the hearths, after the English, are the Spaniard and the Persan one (or Fârsi into Persan) and to a lesser extent, the Chinese, the Japanese, the Korean, the German, the French and the Hebrew.
In 1999, the median income by hearth was of 103.000$, by family of 130.000$, and the median income per anybody of 72.000$.

Among the most known inhabitants of Brentwood appear Arnold Schwarzenegger (the governor of California), Alanis Morissette, Steven Spielberg, Jim Carrey, Cindy Crawford, Steven Seagal, Angela Lansbury.In the past, in the Forties and Fifties, lived there Gary Cooper, Clark Gable, Tyrone Power, Joan Crawford, Henry Fonda, Shirley Temple and well of others.
