The Brenne is a province of the south of the Berry. Located mainly in the Department of Indre, Brenne is also a Regional natural park.

With the the Middle Ages, Brenne was a marshy zone. In XIIe century, the monks cut out it in ponds in order to support pisciculture.

The Regional natural park of Brenne , created in 1989, is located at the west of Chateauroux. It gathers 47 communes (167 200 hectares and 32.430 inhabitants) on the Indre in area Center.
