Brendan Benson
Brendan Benson is a singer, musician and American type-setter born in 1970 in the Michigan.
As at ease with the guitar as with low, with the keyboard, the song or the battery, Brendan Benson is “a group has to him” all alone. It, to date, left three albums solos.
It is also a member of the group The Raconteurs, carried out by Jack White of the White Stripes.
The principal influences of Brendan Benson are inter alia: The Bus, David Bowie, Electric Light Orchestrated, Elvis Costello, The Kinks, Robyn Hitchcock, Paul McCartney and Todd Rundgren.
One the Mississippi
Its first album, One the Mississippi leaves in 1996 with Virgin Records. The album, on which various contributions of Jason Falker appear, receives many criticisms positive. However, the sales are not sufficient and Brendan Benson is returned by Virgin. It is an hard blow for him, it falls into a kind of depression and does not compose any more during six years.
Lapalco
Finally, it is into 2002 that Lapalco , second album solo of Benson, appears.
Once again, the album is encensé by criticisms and business success starts to come.
Two of the songs of Lapalco are used in the British series Teachers: Good To Me in season 3 (song which is also reproduced on the original soundtrack of the series) and Tiny Spark in an episode of the fourth season.
Tiny Spark also made it possible Brendan to increase its reputation, being classified like a hit in the music Indie during some time.
During the round of this album, Benson plays festivals of Reading and Leeds and finishes the set of Leeds with Jet Lag where it is joined by Meg White group The White Stripes as well as members of The Datsuns and of Soledad Brothers.
In 2003, a republication of Lapalco leaves with tracks no-claims bonus of which the EP of 6 titles Well EDF Servant boy (of the name of the group which accompanies Brendan on scene at this time), where songs demonstrations resulting from a session with Jason Falker appear.
It is also into 2003 that Benson leaves a new EP, Metarie , on which one finds a resumption of Let Me Roll It , of Paul McCartney.
Alternate To Love
2005 are the year of exit of the third album solo of Brendan Benson: The Alternative To Love . The round is done mainly with the the United States, the the United Kingdom and in Europe. Brendan is accompanied by its new group of scene: Stiff Tissues .
Spit It Out , first individual of the album, already makes speak about him at its exit but it is especially the song Cold Hands (Warm Heart) which will bring success.
Used in many publicities and televised series, it is to date largest hit of Brendan Benson.
This album is for the moment the best sale of the musician.
The Tellers (Broken Servant boy Soldier)
Concurrently to its solos projects, Brendan Benson also makes party of the group The Raconteurs, a collaboration with Jack White of The White Stripes and two members of the group The Greenhornes: Jack Lawrence and Patrick Keeler. The first album, Broken Servant boy Soldier , leaves on May 16th, 2006 to the the United States with, in first individual, Steady, As She Goes .
Nowadays
Brendan currently lives with Nashville, in the Tennessee.
He worked as producer for The Greenhornes, The Nice Device, The Mood Elevator (in the past The Wellfed Boys) and The Waxwings (the old group of Dean Fertita of Stiff Tissues).
At the beginning of the month of March 2007, some demonstrations of its new album were put on line on its Myspace and Internet.
Feel Like Taking You Home , Eyes One The Horizon , Lesson Learned and Untitled (which would be called perhaps actually Poisoned Mind ) are always listens some on its Myspace.
Other songs such as Forget , Poised And Ready and Go Nowhere circulate on the Net.
Although had a presentiment of to be reproduced on the new album, it is possible that certain songs in fact are used for the second album of The Raconteurs, also in preparation.
It is Dean Fertita which plays the piano part on all the new demonstrations, Brendan dealing with the other instruments.
After a problem with the supposed company to produce its new album, Brendan Benson has to find another label, which delayed the recording of its fourth album. It should however turn over in studio this autumn in order to record its new compositions.
