Geography

History

Village of the bottom of the valley, this place of required passage on the roads connecting Nice and Vintimille to Turin, a long time have an linked activity with the convoys of muleteers connecting Piedmont and the wearing of Nice by the valley of Roya and the Col of Tightens. In 1947 the Italian hamlets of Free and Piène were attached to the France and belong to the commune of Breil . The border was moved of a few kilometers.
