Breeding out of battery

The breeding out of battery is a mode of breeding usually used, in particular within the framework of a intensive breeding. The animals are placed in buildings closed as of their more young age. Each one of them being placed in an individual cage whose volume was studied as well as possible to optimize space used.

This type of breeding is mainly used for the Volaille S and Veau X.

Opposition to the breeding out of battery

Several assocations for the animal Bien-ĂȘtre fight against the use of this method of breeding, which according to them does not take account of the animal suffering at all that it imposes, the living conditions of the animals being sacrificed for questions of profitability. Among the points which these associations raise, one can note that the cages are designed so that the animals cannot be turned over. For calves for example, the objective of the stockbreeders being to keep the whitest possible meat, this conditioning is coupled with a specific food low in iron.
