Bree Van De Kamp

Bree Van De Kamp (born Mason ) is one of the main characters of the television serial Desperate Housewives , interpreted by Marcia Cross.

Name of the character

Born Bree Mason, it is known in the two first seasons of the series under the name of Bree Van De Kamp (its first husband being called Rex Van De Kamp). In the third season, it Marie with Orson Hodge and becomes Bree Hodge .

History of the character

Bree is a White Anglo-Saxon Protesting , republican preserving and member of the National Riffle Association to have several firearms. She married with Rex Van De Kamp (doctor) with which she had two children, Andrew Van De Kamp and Danielle Van De Kamp.

Season 1

It is often shown exceeded by her children at the time of their adolescence, who do not estimate it and who are not very grateful to him. Perfectionist obsessional, Bree tries to show the least possible his feelings, which causes relations tended with its family.

She also had a relation with George Williams, her pharmacist when she and Rex were briefly separate. The purpose of this relation especially was to make Rex jealous. However, George becomes insane in love with Bree. At the end of the first season, Bree is reconciled with Rex in connection with what occurred before he dies. Bree also had, at the time of died of her husband, a very cold relation with the mother of Rex, Phyllis.

Season 2

The second season is marked by a behavioral change of George who became obsessed by Bree when both become engaged. This obsession exasperates Bree but it decides all the same to help it. However, it lets it die of a Overdose after having learned that it was implied in the death of Rex Van de Kamp. This relation marks the beginning of strong tensions between Bree and its son, Andrew.

While it keeps the children of Lynette Scavo, Bree falls asleep after having drunk too many Vin. Lynette intervenes then to make recognize in Bree its problem of Alcoolisme and the latter is forced to join the association of the Alcoholics anonymouses where it meets Peter McMillan, his godfather of association. Thus a new relation between Bree and him starts; she confesses her problems to him. At this point in time Peter teaches him that it was, for its part, a sex maniac. After this advertisement, Peter tries to find another godfather to him but the problems of Bree accumulate, which convinces finally Peter to help Bree to be more sober. This relation ends after Andrew allured Peter, to be avenged for his/her mother. Bree then gives up his/her son at a gasoline station. The remorses overpower it and it decides to be devoted entirely to her daughter, Danielle, who does not appreciate. Exasperated, she flees of the house with her boyfriend, Matthew Applewhite. Exceeded per so many events, Bree goes from full sound liking in a psychiatric hospital where it meets Orson Hodge, which helps it to flee when Bree learns that Matthew was the assassin of Melanie Foster. This last is finally killed by a ball of the police force, in the residence of Bree. Season 2 is finished by an appointment with Orson Hodge, without Bree knowing that it reversed Mike Delfino.

Season 3

Bree and Orson marry in episode 2 of season 3 and Bree thus took the name of Bree Hodge. In the first episode, one learns that before Orson, Bree had never had orgasm. They find Andrew which returns to the house. The things seem suddenly to better go for Bree. At the time of its traditional sending of postcards of Christmas, Bree realizes that it forever heard of the mother of Orson, and it asks him her address. Orson answers him only that his/her mother lives in a hearth for mentally decreased elderly. Later, Bree becomes acquainted with the mother of Orson, which is not senile whole.

Then Bree takes on the fact Orson and Alma, its ex-wife, in the same bed; thinking first of all of an adultery, it strikes her husband with an aim of awaking it. But she realizes quickly that it is cold and discovers sleeping pills and will viagra. She comes to the conclusion that Orson was violated by Alma and she strikes the latter. With its alarm clock, Orson tells in Bree what did without the evening the murder of Monique Pollier. Later, whereas it leaves the dustbins, Bree sees a small bag, similar to that which contained the teeth of Monique, in top of a scale. Intrigued, it climbs. But one of the bars is defective, and it falls. Even if it only is slightly wounded, Bree is hospitalized. Myke causes an accident and Orson falls from the top of the hospital. The family of Bree returns in Wisteria Lane for the marriage of Gabrielle and Victor. She pretexts an honeymoon in Switzerland in order to dissimulate the pregnancy of her Danielle daughter. Bree appairait pregnant with the marriage of his/her friend and makes believe that the future baby will be it his.

Appearance

Bree is characterized by its russet-red hair bursting and its perfect skin. It wears sober clothing, not necessarily with the mode, but which one could qualify above all class. It is also the largest woman of Wisteria Lane , with Mary Alice.

Origin of the character

Bree is based on the proper mother of Marc Cherry and the name Van de Kamp comes from the family in whom it grew.

Anecdote

  • Bree initially was the partner of a doctor (Rex), then that of a pharmacist (George), and finally that of a dentist (Orson), all working on their account.
  • Before choosing Marcia Cross, Marc Cherry had wished to give the role of Bree to Dana Delany. The latter currently camps the role of Katherine Mayfair, the new neighbor, appeared at the beginning of the season 4.
