Brecqhou
Brecqhou ( Brechou in English) is small a Channel Island, in the west of Sercq. Besides she forms politically part of this island and thus of the bailliage of Guernesey. Brecqhou is a private island, very supervised and its public access is not authorized.
Brecqhou has a surface of approximately 65 hectares, it forms one of 40 “tenures” which cut out Sercq. She is separated from Sercq by a narrow channel of forty meters that the Marée S make dangerous. The island has a lengthened form, approximately 300 m in its largest part; surrounded by cliffs, it consists of a plate located at about thirty meters above the sea level.
The current occupants of the island are the brothers, tycoons English of the press, since 1993. Those were regularly opposed to the government of Sercq and assert the desire to separate some politically. They drew a Drapeau for Brecqhou (identical to the flag of Sercq, but carrying the weapons of Barclay in the corner lower right) and emit stamps since 1999. They also built on the island a castle taking as a starting point the Gothic style .
