Break

The break indicates in Minéralogie the aspect of the surface of a mineral which, after being subjected to a constraint, breaks by having surfaces of irregular fractures. The break is opposed to the Clivage, which in the case of applies a fractured mineral presenting of the plane surfaces.
One distinguishes various types of breaks:

conchoïdale : break presenting in a clear and brilliant way, and in which surface is undulating; undulations arranging itself concentrically starting from the point of shock which produced the unequal fracture

- earthy
- esquilleuse
