Brassac-the-Mines is a common French, located in the department of the Puy-de-Dôme and the area Auvergne.
Denomination
The current denomination was officialized on an unknown date (supposed between 1882 and 1943). Previously, the commune was called Brassac (see the common homonyms).

History
The head-frame of the Bayard well testifies to the mining past of Brassac. Exploited since XVIIe, the mine S of coal closed definitively in 1978. The Bayard well was the exploited last. Coal was transported by boat on Combining it. The opening of the channel of Briare, in the years 1640, made it possible to connect To combine it in the Seine and supported transport to Paris. From 1855, with the opening of the line of Issoire, it is by the train that coal is transported. On the score of head-frames present in the field (Brassac, Coalman, Frugères-the-mines), only those of Bayard and Combelle were preserved.

Museums
- Museum of the Mine, created by former minors.
- Peynet Museum, around the work of Raymond Peynet (1908 - 1999), in which the mother was originating in Brassac. There exists also a Peynet Museum and humorous Dessin with Antibes.
