Branković

The Dynastie of Branković , into Serb Cyrillic Бранковићи is a Serb family which initially controlled a party of Serb then the kingdom of Serbia of 1427 to 1456. During their reign, the capital of the Serb Kingdom was Smederevo

History of the Dynasty

The founder of the Dynasty was Branko Mladenović, which had two wire:

  • Nikola Radonja († 1399), the youngest child who after the tragic death of his wife and his two daughters withdrew himself for a monastic life on the youngest Mont Athos
  • , Vuk Branković († 1397) its young person sons married Mara, the girl of the prince Lazar and the princess Milica. He was the lord of the Kosovo and Métochie (Priština, Vučitrn, Zvečan). It combatit during the Battle of Kosovo Polje in 1389.

Vuk Branković and Mara had three wire:

  • Grgur Branković embraced a religious career in the Monastère of Hilandar

  • Lazar Branković died during a battle in 1410
  • Đurađ Branković: the only heir still available for the throne. The Despotic Stefan Lazarević which did not have heirs not received to its uncle the title of Despot of Serbia. From 1427 to 1456, it controlled Serbia.
Đurađ had two women, one has forgets the name of the first. His second wife was Jerina the girl of Jean VI Cantacuzène. Of its two marriages it had four wire and three wire. His/her daughter Mara barrel gives to the sultan Murat II.

The history will have retained only Grgur Branković, Stefan Branković, Lazar Branković. Grgur and Stefan Branković had the eyes flarings in 1441 on the order of the Othoman sultan Murat II. Little before its death in 1459, Grgur became monk in the monastery of Hilandar under the name of German. It had an illegitimate child however, more known Vuk under the name of “Vuk Dragon”.

Lazar was youngest of wire of Đurđa. It controlled Despotat of Serbia of 1456 until its death in 1458. It had as a woman the princess Helene Paléologue. Who gave him three girls, Marie, Jerina, and Milica. The oldest Marie was promised of the king de Bosnie Stjepana Tomašević in April 1459.

Stefan Branković, the second wire of Đurđa, controlled Serbia after the death of his/her Stefan brother of 1458 in April 1459. After having been drives out throne, it was thereafter administrator of the town of Smederevo for Turkish then of all the Serbia. It had like marries Mère Angelina Sr: wiki which gave him two wire Đorđe Branković and Jovan Branković and two girls, Marie and Milica. It finished its life in exiled with Belgrade in 1476.
