Brakpan

Brakpan is a mining Ville (Or and Uranium) of the Gauteng, in South Africa. Its name returns to the activity of the first gold diggers who used one bâtée ( side ), often filled with brackish water ( brackish ). It obtained the statute of municipality in 1919. The minors of Brakpan took part in the great strike of 1922. The decline started when more profitable seams were discovered in the surroundings.
It belongs to the metropolitan Municipalité of Ekurhuleni and counts more than 130.000 inhabitants.
It is the seat of the team of Rugby of the Falcons, in the past Eastern Transvaal, which evolves/moves in the Currie Cup
