The Shining or Shining, the child light is a novel of Stephen King published for the first time in 1977. This work, the third which it publishes, establishes it like an important figure of the kind Fantastique.
Synopsis
Jack Torrance is a man with the temperament coleric. It tries to rebuild its life and that of its family after its alcoholism made him lose its use of teacher. Having stopped drinking, it accepts an use of guard in a large hotel isolated in the mountains, and closed in winter. It moves in the Overlook hotel with his Wendy wife and her Danny son. This last has gifts of telepathy (Shining of the title) and is sensitive to the supernatural forces.
The hotel, equipped with a conscience, is had by spirits. Danny, having premonitions of the danger which the place for its family represents, starts to see phantoms and visions terrifying of passed of the hotel. But he prefers to keep silent himself, knowing which importance has this work for his/her father. The hotel starts to have Jack, making it increasingly unstable and aggressive in order to handle best.
Film adaptation
Stanley Kubrick took again the history to create one of most famous the thriller of all the history, named The Shining . Jack Nicholson holds the main role to with it. Of this film will be drawn from the scenes which will remain the traditional ones such as blood which falls from the elevator. It will use the Steadicam in this film to carry out impressive scenes.
Stephen King not liking the adaptation of Kubrick, amongst other things because this last neglected the topics of the disintegration of the family and alcoholism treated in the book, decides to make its own remake for television in 1997.
