Brain-on-Longuenée is a common French, located in the department of Maine-et-Loire and the area Pays of the Loire.
Geography
Brain-on-Longuenée is located in edge of the Forêt of Longuenée on old moors and marshes, from where the origin of its name. The forest provided the pasturage, the game, the charcoal, the small fruits. It was also a place of trade and traffic. The relatively high plate fed the more or less drinkable water borough.Brain-on-Longuenée is with 7 kilometers of the Lion-in Angers, 18 of Segré and 23 of Angers. It is also located at 5 kilometers in the west of the axis Rennes - Angers.
History of Brain on Longuenée
Brain-on-Longuenée is quoted in XIe and XIIe century in documents of the chapter of St Laud (Angers). The priest Jean Pierre Gourdon (in Brain of 1851 to 1871) tells in his manuscript, the history of Brain starting from the parochial registers. He speaks about the cure (current town hall), of the old church, makes the genealogies of some families: Of Mergot, Mauvif de Montergon, Richou…Before the Revolution, Brain belonged mainly to the stronghold of Beuvrière. The history of Brain remains marked by characters of which there remain the vestiges of the localities that they lived.
