Bréhan is a common French, located in the department of the Morbihan and the area Brittany.
The name Breton of the commune is Brehant-Loudieg .
Its inhabitants name the Bréhannais and Bréhannaises .

Bréhannaise printing works
During the year 1484, Jean II, Viscount of Rohan makes sure the services of Robin Fouquet and Jean Crès, two Masters printers in order to make function the first press of Bretonne printing works. The presence of two mills with papers on banks of Dependant, and pertaining to Jean de Rohan of the Ford of Isle will help with the success of the project and the December 16th 1484, leave the first work printed in Brittany: Trépassement of the virgin.
At that time the " mill with papier" product 1000 paper oars per annum, mainly intended for the writing and packing. Now this Mill is reconverted into the production of flour, but with preserved the name of " mill with papier".
The church of Bréhan
Rebuilt on the ruins of the old church between 1880 and 1884, the parish church of Bréhan was inaugurated and devoted the September 10th 1884. Of neo-gothic style, this large coated stone building is drawn on the plan of a Latin cross. The unfinished bell-tower is prone to two assumptions: The first, wants that fault of means, the construction of the building was stopped before the end. The second, supposes that the ground would not have supported the weight of a traditional bell-tower. The interior on the other hand is very richly equipped, as well from the movable point of view as decorative (sculptor, woodworks, stalls of wood).
Vaults
The Saint-Marc vault
The original vault dates from the 16th century and summer dedicated to Saint Samson. Partially demolished then rebuilt in 1775 by the Grasse Marquis on the same rectangular form. The new vault preserves all the same the frame of its elder, the terra cotta pavement the central schist alley and the limed ground coatings. On a fragment of stained glass, weapons of Brittany and Rohan: " 9 hermines and 3 macles of or" are fixed like on two remarkable tombstones.
The Saint-Yves vault
The first vault in this place goes back to 1535 and only some members structural and a engraved stone are still present in the current building. Martyrdoms
The martyrdom of the Cross Badly-Setting
Gone back to 1711, this martyrdom is composed of a cross with double face resting on a stone base. The Martyrdom of Timadeuc
Raised in 1946 in memory of the Guénaël father of the abbey of Timadeuc, the martyrdom of Timadeuc recalls its courage. Off-set for facts of resistance, he dies the January 3rd 1945 with the camp of Buchenwald. The following year the abbey received the medal of French Resistance as recalled by a plate on the martyrdom. This martyrdom is visible while going up, of the lock of the same name (on the Canal from Nantes to Brest) towards the abbey.
The Martyrdom of Quengobrien
It is one of the oldest religious monuments of the parish. Only decorations which one can find there his asperities carved on the barrel monolith of the cross.
Martyrdom and fountain of Duran
Here, it is certainly about the religious monument most recent of the commune because the 20th century. The fountain is surmounted martyrdom monolith out of granite posed on a carved pediment. Cross Holy Mélec
This martyrdom is related to a legend according to which, Saint Mélec, of passage in the area had been badly accommodated by the inhabitants of Brémaudé. The historical heritage
The estuer
Strengthened in 1550, the castle of Estuer sheltered the seigniory of the family Estuer Roque. A private vault dedicated to Saint Jean was destroyed at the time of the revolution, but certain vestiges survived such as the ruins of a tower of defense with its loopholes or the entry of an underground formerly connecting the commune of Chèze to Rohan. The manor remains an important component and splendid commune.
The mill of the Pit
On banks of Dependant in schist a remarkable cliff procession, this mill is one of the more good examples of this type of monument in the area. Built in 1850, it sheltered during the German occupation a radio operator station transmitting resistance, in direct connection with London. Its activity of flour mill was prolonged during 116 years before the final stop occurred in 1966. Now divided between lodging and center of art and sculpture, it is the starting place of very beautiful walks. Its architecture preserved very well makes it possible to better include/understand the operation of the traditional flour mills.
