Characteristics

Small Pieve of the mountainous center of Corsica, Boziu is struck hard by the turning into a desert of the interior of the island. Boziu with the characteristic to have maintained in a particularly long-lived way the tradition of the polyphonic song: Paghjella, Terzettu, and sung mass. It is also a ground of tradition of Violoneux. A festival of traditional musics to dance was thus held during a few years in the village of Sermanu in homage to these fiddlers now missing.

History

The Pieve of Boziu saw being born the two major revolutions from the history of Corsica. In 1357, Sambucucciu d' Alandu takes the head of the anti-feudal revolt which will see the extermination (at least provisional) of all the lords of Corsica and the destruction of all their castles.

In 1729 it is the village of Bustanicu which will be the cradle of the war which will lead to the proclamation of the independence of Corsica carried out by Pascal Paoli. Then under domination génoise, Corsica abused hard by the Italian Republic sees herself obliged to pour a new tax, known as dui seini . In Bustanicu the officers génois in charge of the harvest of this tax are impartial with an old man of the name of Cardone. The villagers take his defense then and drive out the officers génois, obliged to turn back and to regain Corte. The bells of the church sound with stolen and the revolt gains little by little the close villages then the pievi . Oppressed and exasperated by a very hard administration génoise, the populations of the villages of the interior enter then in war against the génoise presence to Corsica. This event is recognized as the element release of the revolt of Corsica who will lead to the independence of the island.
