Boy George
Boy George , of her true name George Alan O' Dowd , born the June 14th 1961, is a Chanteur, Musicien and British Disc jockey .
Wire of Jerry and Dinah O' Dowd, it has five brothers and sisters and grows in the suburbs of London. As of adolescence it joined the punk movement very present in England, and is essential then like “star of the night”, attending the nightclubs underground assiduously or connected. It is characterized by its erudite make-up and its extravagant costumes.
February 28th, 1981, it takes its first steps on scene at the sides of the group Bow Wow Wow. At the same time it creates its group Culture Club, with Mickey Craig (bass player), John Moss (beater) and Sweden (guitarist) quickly replaced by Roy Hay. Success is with go as of the first album, Kissing to Be clever , comprising a large tube, Do you really want to hurt me . The following year, the group collects trophies and discs platinums for the album " Color By Numbers" and its individual like " Karma Chameleon" (number 1 a little everywhere on planet), " Victims" , " Church Off The Mind" Poison; and others.
During its international career with Culture Club, it sells more than 30 million discs. At the top of its glory, it falls gradually into the hell from drug. After a passage by Bombay, where it witnesses Buddhist ceremonies, Boy George started a new career under the name of Jesus Loves You with a number in England and in Canada, Everything I Own . The album, named Sold , just like it song-title and the parts Keep Me In Mind and To Be Reborn , were a success moderated in Europe. In 1991 it leaves the album The Martyr Mantras , in which one finds the individual ones with success as Generations off coils and Bow down mister .
In 1992 (and 1993 in America), Boy George was a success with the song-topic of the film The Crying Game .
In 1995, Boy George left an album venerated by the critics, Cheapness And Beauty , containing a sound rather alternative glam-rock'n'roll and some timeless acoustic ballades. In conflict then with its recording company, Virgin, the album did not accept practically any promotion.
It joined Culture Club for three individual, an album and some world tours between 1998 and 2002.
An album with acoustic savor, U Edge Never B2 Straight, left in 2002. It accepted as of criticisms more than eulogistic, but the album was not sold much.
Boy George collaborated in several artists of electronic music, of which Faithless, Groove Armada, Sash! , Hi-Spoils, Eddie Locke.
From 2002 to 2004, a musical comedy partially on its life, and of which he wrote all the songs, Taboo , were presented to London and Broadway.
In the years 2000, it left some vinyl discs under the name of The Twin . These discs, of style électroclash are limited editions.
Boy George prepares at present an album with savor reggae for 2007.
