Boxing ring (Vienna)

The December 20th 1857, the emperor François-Joseph signed the deciding decree of the dismantling of the rampart S which locked up the downtown area of Vienna ( Innere Stadt ). It creates then a skirted annular boulevard of public buildings and houses of report/ratio, the Ring .

Today, the Ring is one of the most beautiful boulevards of the Austrian capital. It delimits the first district.

The historical Boxing ring , sometimes called “interior”, offers to the vehicles a direction time circulation, except for the trams, which can circulate in the two directions. A second boulevard, concentric the Boxing ring, makes it possible to turn in the other direction, it is sometimes called “external” Ring .
