Box of $petri
A box of $petri is a cylindrical box not very deep, in Verre or figure provided with a lid. It is used in Microbiologie for the setting in Culture of Micro-organismes, but also for the culture of cell S of higher organizations (for example culture of Hybridome).
Most of the time, it is partially filled of a gelled nutritional liquid allowing the development studied micro-organism.
Its name comes from the German Bactériologiste Julius Richard $petri (1852 - 1921), which invented this device in 1887, when he was the assistant of the doctor Robert Koch.
