One second series (entitled in English The New Avengers ), in 26 52 minutes episodes, was diffused between the October 22nd 1976 and the November 18th 1977. In France, this series was diffused starting from 1977 on TF1, under the title Bowler hat and leather boots .
Synopsis
This series puts in scene the adventures of John Steed, secret agent with the service of Its Gracious Majesty.

Summary history
Patrick Macnee, Bowler hat on the head and Umbrella with the arm, plays the Secret agent John Steed throughout the series. In the first season of the series, new in France (with share an episode), Steed is only one supporting character, the hero being Doctor David Keel (played by Ian Hendry). This last is a doctor of which been engaged is killed by drug traffickers. Steed, a kind of nonofficial police officer, assistance the doctor to avenge the death for its promised in marriage (while making stop the culprit), from where the English title of the series, which means the Avengers . Then Steed trains the doctor in other missions where it will fight together against the crime.In the second season, Ian Hendry left, and Doctor Martin King (Jon Rollason) will assist Steed during three episodes. Steed became the hero. It will have then a female partner, Cathy Gale (played by Honor Blackman) or Come Smith (Julie Stevens), in six episodes.
In the third season, Cathy Gale will be the only partner of Steed. They form a duet of shock, it beautiful and effective, is often equipped with leather (from where the French title of the series). It elegant and is shown of an inalterable phlegm and a very British Humor. The series is from now on a very great success. The scenarios progress in quality, probably thanks to the arrival of Brian Clemens. The name of this scenario writer-producer remains attached for always to this series to which it gave his noble letters.
The fourth season sees appearing Emma Peel (played by Diana Rigg) to replace Cathy Gale. It is brown-russet-red, champion of the brawl and is not afraid of nothing. One feels a true complicity between the actors, their dialogs being besides often with double direction.
