Bowiea volubilis
Bowiea volubis is the most known species of the kind Bowiea . It is a Plante made up of a Bulbe in form of Oignon on which a long green stem pushes which produces small Fleur S. In Classification APG II (2003) the plant belongs to the Hyacinthacées S or of the Asparagacées (optional).
It is originating in Africa south (of the Zimbabwe, of Tanzania, Kenya).
The name of this plant comes from the collector English James Bowie (1789 - 1869).
Description
All the parts of the plant are toxic, so much so that this one does not have a parasite S, even the contact with the Peau is irritant.The bulb can reach 25cm diameter (at the end of several years) and approximately 2,50 Mr. top plants it.
Maintenance
The plant must be cultivated in interior (above 10°C) and the bulb produces foliage all the year. To stop any watering the winter, it is besides very sensitive to excesses of waterings.The reproduction is done only seldom by sowing, it is preferable to take a Pelure, which in its turn will give a bulb.
