Bovan (Aleksinac)

Bovan , in Serb Cyrillic Sr Бован, is a village of Serbia located in the municipality of Aleksinac, district of Nišava. In 2002, it counted 554 inhabitants.
Bovan is located on the edges of the Sokobanjska Moravica, a right affluent of the Južna Morava. At the level of the village, the river receives a stopping which belongs to a complex project of regulation of the Velika Morava; it then forms the artificial lake of Bovan. The throats of Bovan, dug by the river, constitute a goal of excursion for many visitors.
In 1948, the village counted: 1084 inhabitants and, in 1991, 690.
