Boutigny-Prouais
Boutigny-Prouais is a common French, located in the department of Eure-et-Loir and the area Center (French area).
Geography
History
The names of Boutigny (Boteneium) and Prouais (Proeis), appear at the 11th century in the files of Eure-et-Loir. However, the prehistoric tools discovered on the edges of Opton and with Drove, attest that the territory was occupied by the men since strong a long time. The history of our two villages is related to the risks of the moment, with their batches of dramas and destruction due to the invasions, the epidemics, the food shortages, the bad weather and the wars. The wars did not save the churches which last being rebuilt or altered at the 16th century. Since these times, the bell-tower of Prouais preserves its martial pace of defensive tower. But in 1947, the church of Boutigny was devastated by a fire. Rebuilt in 1957, it again points its bell-tower in the landscape. As from the 19th century, the territorial limits evolved/moved. In 1846, the commune of Saint-Project, with its hamlets of Mesnil-on-Opton and Dannemarie, is attached to that of Boutigny, by ordinance of king Louis Philippe. In 1972, the two communes of Boutigny and Prouais link the their fate for worst and best. Lastly, in 1998 the commune of Boutigny-Prouais enters the Community of communes of the Houdanais Country, being projected thus resolutely towards the future.
