Boussois
Boussois is a common French, located in the department of the Northern (59) and the area Nord-Pas-de-Calais.
Its inhabitants is called Beuxéidiens.
Geography
The town of Boussois is in the basin of the Sambre to a few kilometers of the border with the Belgium. The city is located between the towns of Assevent at the west, Élesmes in north, Marpent in the east and Recquignies in the south.
History
Origin
The origin of the village seems to be the establishment on the Roman Voie between Bavay and Trier, its name will évolura with length them centuries to pass from the Roman Buxetum (planted place of Buis) to current Boussois.
In 1677, at the time of the catch of Valencian by Louis XIV, the church of Boussois is burnt. The church of Boussois concerned the chapter of Maubeuge. The priest who served it was that of Recquignies.
The Seigniory of Boussois
The Seigniory of Boussois belonged to the 13th century with Gerard de Jauche, lord of Gomegnies.In 1295 with Jean Sausses, knight, lord of Feignies, deceased before 1333 (Succession - " monumens ancien" by Saint Genois 1 page 358 volume). “Jean says Sausset signor of Boussoit” (SG volume 1 page 40 - year 1318, page 200 year 1310, page 217 year 1323, page 219 year 1329, page 238 year 1350, page 243 year 1314, page 265 year 1305, page 334 year 1296, page 335 year 1301, page 336 year 1305, page 358 year 1333, page 365 year 318, page 396 year 1321, page 398 year 1312, page 839 year 1295, page 868 year 1297, page 1048 year 1296, page 1144 year 1321, page 1156 year 1322, page 1198 year 1331, page 1208 year 1314).
In 1333 with the family Of the WOOD Of HAYNNE by heritage of Jean SAUSSET, “BOUSSOIT, very-beautiful ground close to MONS. Sentence of the Baillif and Hommes of stronghold of Wistasse, lord of Roeux, with the profit of Wautier de Haynne, wire of Huon, against Henri Desmolins and Marguerite de Bourdiaux, her wife, who allocate to that Watier the strongholds, Ville and Châteu de Boussoit, fallen to that Huon, by the death of Jean says Sausset, Chevalier, Seigneur of Boussoit, 1333, Thursday before St - Barnabe” (SG volume 2 page 1150). “Louis of the Wood of Hatred, Mayor of Brain-the-Count, in faith and liege homage, for the stronghold that Lord Jean Sausset, Lord de Boussoit, held of Jean de Condé, in Boussoit, by the death of the known as Jean Sausset, in Huon of the Wood of Hatred which left it in Watier Wood of Hatred, his/her son, by the death of which it passed to his sister, mother of the known as Louis, of which it received it. 1336” (SG volume 2 page 1145 and 1151 year 1334, judgment given by Gerard, said Sausses d' Ayne to the castle of Mons).
To the 14th century it passes in the family Of SIVRY of Buath, lord of Pottes and Méricourt, of which one was provost of Maubeuge in 1577.
In 1482, Jacques BOULLENGIER husband of Jossine LOSCART, is announced lord of Boussoit and Estrepy (SG volume 1 page 1050 year 1504) in an act against Jean Of HERBAMEZ lord of Maurage. In 1507 opinions of father and mother of Jacques BOULENGIER, rider, lord of Boussoit and Louise RUFFAULT.
Jean RUFFAULT makes relief of the ground of Boussoit in 1530, like husband and lease of Jeanne BAKER (SG volume 1 page 1050), girl of Adrien, lord of Boussoit.
Charles RUFFAULT, wire of the precedents which tests in 1573 is announced lord of Boussoit.
Jeanne Of RUFFAULT rams of Boussois marries Jean LONGHEPPE (SG volume 1 page 1051 year 1575). She is girl of Jean Seigneur of Neufville, Spienne, Lambersart, Mouveaulx, and of Jeanne the BAKER, rams of Strépy and Boussoit.

It is girl of Jean Seigneur of Neufville, Spienne, Lambersart, Mouveaulx, and of Jeanne the BAKER, rams of Strépy and Boussoit.
Jeanne Of the CROSS, rams of Boussoit, girl of Jean and of Louise Of RUFFAULT, marries in 1604, Robert Of the CHASTEL, wire of Nicolas and Antoinette Of AVROULT.
One finds also Jacques DANNEUX lord of Boussois (Baptism of Christine Marie Of the BREWER with Rocq on November 16th, 1633).
Robert François Of the CHASTEL of Howardrie, lord of Inglinghem raises on December 23rd, 1679 the Earth of Boussoit which had fallen to him by the death of Robert, his father on December 24th, 1678.
In 1688 the Marquis of WARGNIES sells the seigniory with the chapter of Maubeuge.
The Seigniory of Boussois had under its dependence two important strongholds: the stronghold “of the Mound”, consistent in a castle with farm; and the second stronghold in several farms. “Louis de Sivry, known as of Buath, Chev. Sgr. of Pottes, Méricourt, Provost of Maubeuge. 3 J. with the terr. of Boussoit-on-Sambre. the stronghold of the Mound. Page 315” (SG volume 2 page 1430).
The seigniory of Boussois had under its dependence two important strongholds:

“the seam Nets”, concerned with the peerage of Barbençon (“colart. Brougnart dmt. in Maubeuge, by the demise of Jeanne Colisart” (SG volume 1 page 10 - County of Hainaut 1473);
the second including/understanding various patches of land, belonging to the Count de Hainaut;
the third including/understanding a residence encloses ditches with turrets and 4 bonniers of meadows, 6 ground journels, and various revenues concerned with the mobility of the court of Elesmes. Perhaps called the “Fort”: in 1412 Lionesses Of WARELLES (? of Ghoegnies) has the Castle and Fortress of Boussoit, “of the disinheritance made by noble Lionnes man of Warelles, Chevalier, of a stronghold of ten books of revenue which him appartenoit on the wood of Naste & which it avoit yielded with three other strongholds not named, with the profit of the Count de Hainaut, in exchange of the Castle and fortress of Boussoit & some parts of this ground that it avoit transported to him & of adhéritement made between the hands of Gerald Engherant Receveur of Hainaut, for & with the profit of the Count de Hainaut. the seigniory of Marpineau or firm of Fagnet: At the Northern end, on the right of the wood of Ourdain, was located the farm of Fagnet, still called Seigneurie of Marpineau, composed of a castle with its dependences which belonged to the lords of Esclatière for a long time (“Historical research on Mabeuge, its Canton, and the communes bordering” by Z.PIERART - Maubeuge 1851).
TO the 16th century it belongs to the family POTTIER which also had until the beginning of XVIIe that of Dour (20 km SW of Mons).
All Saints' day POTTIER lived in Mons in 1468 originating in the country of Liege (GBM No 6 page 46), it marries in second weddings Jeanne HAUWIN (HAUSSIN), of which: Jean POTTIER, lord of Dour and Beaufort, it marries Jeanne DUCHATELLE known as WYART, of which: Vincent POTTIER, deceased in 1554, who marries Marie Of the SAME (she marries in second weddings in 1555 Jean URCHIN - GBM No 1 page 53), Philippe girl, lord of Quievrechain and Jeanne LEBOUCQ of which: Philippe POTTIER husband of Jeanne TRICART (GBM No 8 page 42), girl of Jean and Nicole JOYE. It is announced lord of Marpineau and Hausin to its death in 1622: of which: Philippe POTTIER who marries in 1610 Jacqueline ADAM, girl of Andre and Jacqueline BUISSERET, of which: Anne Therese POTTIER, lady of Marpineau which marries before 1650, Jacques DESCAMPS, lord of Mauville, Vaussard… Rider (SG volume 2 page 1292 and GBM No 6 page 46)
Jean Baptist DESCAMPS, their son, rider, lord of Bettrechies, Roussoye and Mauville, inherits the seigniory of Marpineau.
It passes in the OFFICE family of the esclatière by the marriage before 1695, of François Joseph OFFICE with Anne Marie Ursule DESCAMPS.
20th century
In 1900 the industrial rise of the city will pass by the construction of the ice S of Boussois, manufacturing plant of the Verre which will count up to 2000 paid, and will make pass the town of less than 1000 inhabitants to more than 3000 today. The Ices of Boussois will take a big part in the urban development by the construction of buildings (the church Saint Martin, a Hearth of the workers…) and of a complete district of dwelling of the city. This district, named the City of the Morocco (thus baptized because of the supposed Sun to illuminate this hard city), was built at the beginning of the 20th century beside the factory. These dwellings always exist.
The city has one of the military buildings, the extremely of Boussois, which belonged to whole of forts and constructions military built around Maubeuge for protection of the city. These military constructions belong to the strengthened sector of Maubeuge of the Ligne Maginot.

the church Holy Martin, built with the assistance of the workmen of the Ices of Boussois, was finished three years after the beginning of work in 1926. The Ministry for the Culture currently studies the possibility of classifying this church historic building.
