Boulmous

Boulmous

The boulmous (Boulemousse delivery) is a play of 24 charts, for four players. The charts used are the following ones: 9,10, Servant, Lady, King and Ace.

It can be played while misant or not money.

The play is articulated in two phases:

  1. of the biddings determining the contract to play by the informant: the person having made the highest bidding is that which starts to play in first, and then the play proceeds in the direction of the needles of a watch. The informant must then name in first the color of the selected asset (spade, heart, square, clover or without asset);
  2. an attempt to carry out at least the number of liftings (folds) declared during the biddings.

Biddings

The player with the left of the donor makes the first advertisement, and the biddings continue in the direction of the needles of a watch to the donor, which is the last to be announced.

A bidding must include the number of liftings (from three to six). The informant can also announce boulmous , which corresponds to six liftings.

The term bidding implies a progression. A bidding will be higher than another (and thus acceptable) if the number of required liftings is higher. When the biddings are finished, the player who announced the highest number of liftings is called the taking and it is the first to be played.

When all the players passed without none making a bidding, gives it is null and the charts passed to the following donor.

Goal of the play

The goal of the play is to be the first to reach 21 points.

Order of the charts

When the taker declares that he plays " without atout" , the ace is the strongest chart, followed by the king, the lady, the servant, the 10 and the 9.

When the taker declares that he plays in asset, the servant of the asset is the strongest chart, followed by the servant of the same color, followed by the king, the lady, the servant (for the charts which do not form part of the asset, of the 10 and of the 9.

For example, if the taker declares " heart (♥) atout" , the strongest charts will be the knave of hearts (♥), the knave of diamonds (♦), the other charts of heart (♥) in the decreasing order (of the ace to the 9), and then, the other charts which are not in the asset.

Description of a hand

The taker is the first to be played and calls the asset or without asset.

; Play without asset: The taker deposits a chart and the color of this one is the color required for this lifting. In order to gain it, the other players must deposit a stronger chart and color requested. The other players are also obliged to provide , i.e. if they have a chart of the color requested in their play, they must obligatorily play it.

The person having gained the lifting is that which plays the first with the next lifting. The sleeve proceeds thus until the 6 liftings are played.

; Play in asset: The taker declares the asset in which he will play. The players must obligatorily provide the color requested. If a player does not have a color requested but that it has a chart of asset, it can cut , and thus gain the hand, since the chart in asset is strongest. Another player also can surcouper , if it does not have either a chart of the color requested and that it has a chart in asset.

Score and mark

At the end of the sleeve, the number of liftings gained by each player is marked. If the taker did not succeed in gaining the number of liftings declared at the time of the bidding, it must then deduct from its score the number of liftings which it had announced. It is said that it made a box . A player can have a negative score.

Settings

This play can be played with money. It is necessary to decide the value of the setting and the play is played identically and the money is bet as follows:

  • gaining It of the part collects a setting by player.

  • During the part, if a player declares boulmous with the biddings and succeeded in gaining the 6 liftings, the other players must pay him a setting each one.
  • Nevertheless, if it misses its boulmous it must pay a setting with each player.
  • the players having made boxes lasting the part must pay with gaining an additional setting by box.
