Boulevard des Capucines
In full heart of the central district of the businesses of Paris, this boulevard was made of 1685 to 1705. It belongs to what one called the New Courses built on the site of the bastions of the enclosure of Louis XIII. It owes its name with the Couvent of the Nasturtiums whose gardens skirted the southern part until the Révolution.
With the n°1, the Neapolitan Coffee , famous for the writers, journalists, actors who attended it (Catulle Mendès, Jean Moréas, Armand Silvestre, Laurent Tailhade…).
With the n°2, site of the old hotel of Montmorency, which made place with the Théâtre of the Light comedy in 1869, then to the cinema Paramount Opéra in 1927. Its big room corresponds to the foundations of the large living room of the hotel of the XVIIIe century, whose frontage in rotunda was preserved.
N°7, site in 1825, of the Géorama where " was seen; the terrestrial sphere entier" interior of a sphere of 14 measure diameter.
With the n°8, Offenbach lived as from 1876 in this building and died there in 1880.
With the n°12, the Large-Hotel , built on an old marsh-kitchen garden.
With the n°14, the Hotel Scribe and site of the Large Coffee or take place in basement, the first public projections of the cinematograph of Auguste and Louis Light. One tried out luminous x-rays there, discovered by Doctor Roentgen.
From the 16 to the 22, site of the seat of " Evenement" , newspaper founded by Victor Hugo.
N°24, of 1905 to 1956, place of dwelling of Mistinguett.
N°25, old site of the Museum Cognacq-Jay, installed in 1931.
With the n°27, old Samaritaine de Luxe , due to the Master of the Art nouveau, Frantz the Jordan.
N°28, site in 1889 of the " mountains russes" , replaced in 1893 by the theater of the Olympia, celebrates variety founded in 1888 by Joseph Oller and repurchased in 1952 by Bruno Coquatrix.
At the n°35, house inhabited by Nadar. In April 1874, a group of young painters, whose Renoir, Manet, Pissarro, made there the first exposure of their fabrics. That of Manet, Impression, was to give to these exhibitors the name impressionists.
N°37 with the n°43, old site of the affected hotel at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of 1820 to 1853. It is in front of this ministry that were held the scuffle (35 dead) between the Parisian ones and a regiment of infantry, from or rose the revolution which put an end to the reign Louis-Philippe.
