Bouleutérion

The bouleutérion is the building where the Boulè met, the council, in the quoted of the ancient Greece. According to the specific name of this institution in the various cities, it could bear another name: for example, synédrion with Messène or gérontikon with Nysa.
Athenian Bouleutérion
On the Athenian Agora , it was built two Bouleutérion, each one in function at one different period. Oldest Bouleutérion is the Métrôon.
Of -415 with -406, new Bouleutérion was built in the west of old. The reasons of this new construction remain obscure. The new building was of rectangular form and measured 16 X 22 meters. Today, there remains only of the foundations, which does not make it possible to clarify construction more.
