Bougival
Bougival is a common French, located in the department of the Yvelines and the area Île-de-France.
Its inhabitants is called the Bougivalais .
Geography
The commune of Bougival is with approximately six kilometers in the east of Saint-Germain-in-Bush hammer, on left bank of the the Seine in the concavity of a meander to the outlet of a boxed small valley where a brook ran formerly, Drionne. The communal territory includes most of the island of the Roadway as well as the point upstream of the island of the Cabin. Between the two are the lock S of Bougival.
The communes bordering are Rueil-Malmaison in the east, That-Saint-Cloud in the south, Louveciennes in the west and the Croissy-on-Seine in north on Right Bank of the Seine.
It is served by the Trunk road 13 which skirts the river and by the secondary road D321 of North-South orientation. The latter crosses the preceding one with the right of the bridge of Bougival (Bridge Marshal-of-Lattre-of-Tassigny) which ensures the connection with Croissy-on the Seine.
On the railway level, the commune has a station on the line which connects Paris-Saint-Lazare to Saint-Name-the-Bretèche; it is located on the commune of That-Saint-Cloud.
The territory is very strongly urbanized but account still of wooded natural spaces (in particular, in the south-western point, part of the national forest of Louveciennes and, in the east, the field of Jonchère on the slopes turned towards the Seine and being next to That-Saint-Cloud).
History
The Machine of Marly which forwarded the water of the Seine to the park of the Château of Versailles was built in Bougival.

- Notre-Dame Church: church of the 12th century to the bell-tower with octagonal stone arrow, partly rebuilt at the 19th century
- Castle of Jonchère - transformed today into hotel with restaurant - which accommodated many famous hosts (Ouvrard, Count de Tolstoï, Adolphe Thiers, Prince de Metternich)
- the Machine of Marly (disappeared today)
- the laundrette on the heights near Louveciennes
- Villa the Ashes , having belonged to the professional singer Pauline Garcia-Viardot
- Datcha of Ivan Tourguéniev
- Maison of Georges Bizet where celebrates it type-setter composed Carmen and where he died on June 3rd, 1875
- Locks of Bougival: largest makes 220 meters length.
- It is in the island of Bougival that were painted certain of most famous tables impressionist S, such as the Snap fastener of Pierre Auguste Renoir or Claude Monet, painted both the same year (1869). These places were actively attended, between 1850 and 1900, by the Parisian middle-class of the time. Guy of Maupassant gives of it an account in one of its news (Horla).
