Bouchardides

The Bouchardides are a dynasty of the franque Noblesse founded by Bouchard Ratepilate. They held the counties of Vendôme, Melun and Paris.

Origin

Recent work put forth the assumption that Bourchardides go down by the women from the Agilolfing. Indeed, Bouchard Ratepilate would be a great-grandson of Aubry de Sens and Engeltrude, girl of Eudes count d' Orléans.

A first Bouchard is quoted in the charters of the Abbaye Saint Martin's day de Tours (891 and 905), but it is not expressly quoted as count de Vendôme.

Bouchard Ratepilate , his/her son, is the first which one is sure that it was count de Vendôme. He and its successors are faithful Robertiens, then marquis de Neustrie and duke of France, and they will profit from the rise of the latter.
