Botanical name
In botanical nomenclature, a botanical name is a scientific name, conforming to the international Code of botanical nomenclature . The Code request valid publication: a name is a formal name only when it is published valid. The sentence " Nom validates " is used (informellement) for a name which is published valid. I.e.: all the botanical names are valid names.

Examples of names botany:
- : order Polygonal
- : family Leguminosae
- : family Rosaceae
- : subfamily Caesalpinioideae
- : section Banksia sectio Banksia
- : Quercus robur
- : Passiflora edulis formed flavicarpa
The following ones are not published valid and are not botanical names:
- a tautonym. " example; Larix larix " would be a tautonyme, and it is not possible to publish valid Ca.
- a nomen nudum. Publication tests misses a diagnosis or description, and valid publication is not carried out.
Important sentences:
- illegitimate name. It is a name published valid (and then a botanical name), but one cannot use it.
- legitimate name. It is a name published valid (and then a botanical name), and one can use it, when it is suitable.
- correct Name. It is a name published valid (and then a botanical name) and it is the name which one must use for a taxon of certain a delimitation, position and row. When one accepts a delimitation, different position or row for the taxon, one must also use a different correct name.
