Bostonnais

Bostonnais is a Municipalité Quebec which was amalgamated on March 26th, 2003 with Tuque. It was reconstituted on January 1st, 2006 and now forms part of the agglomeration of Tuque.

The name of Bostonnais comes from the river of the same name which runs in the center of the municipality. The name of the river commemorates as for it a trapper Abénaki of the name of Jean-Baptiste Bostonnais, in which the family would be probably originating in the the United States.

Municipal chronology

  • 1965 : Proclamation of the canton of Bourgeoys (Named in the honor of Marguerite Bourgeoys)
  • January 1st 1987: Constitution of the municipality of Bostonnais which includes/understands like territory the entirety of the canton of Bourgeoys.
  • March 26th 2003: Fusion of Bostonnais with Tuque.
  • January 1st 2006: Reconstitution of Bostonnais according to its old territory.
