Boson II (C. 928 - † 968) also called Boson VII of Provence , count d' Arles, of Avignon and Provence (949-968)
Its origin is discussed, even if its life is relatively well-known.
Biography
In 948 as of the death of Hugues of Arles, Conrad day before to replace it and control the capacities of sound or its successors. This is why, it bursts Provence in three counties, thus limiting the authority and the resources of new the comtes.Boson and its Guillaume brother, of Burgundian origin, deal with the counties of Arles and Avignon. The count Griffon d' Apt having been quickly eliminated, the two brothers, without freeing itself from the nominal authority of the king, become main truths of the country.
Towards 953 (or 942?) Boson II marries Constance called sometimes Constance of Provence , supposed to be a girl or a sister of Charles Constantin, count de Vienne.
Boson II and Constancy have two wire:
- Rotboald I {{er}} (Roubaud) († 1008), count d' Arles and of Provence
- Guillaume I {{er}} the Liberator (v. 953 † 993), count d' Arles and of Provence then marquis de Provence in 975.
He dies in 968.
Origin
Assumption 1 : Boson II, wire of Rotbold (Roubaud) or Rodboald d' Agel (noble mâconais)Boson II would be the son of Rotbold (Roubaud) or Rodboald d' Agel (noble mâconais) made to count de Provence into 903 per Louis III the Blind man.
- the ascent of this Rotbald remained to us unknown. Historians consider however that it could be a question of the husband of a girl of Ermengarde (girl of Boson V of Provence) and of Guillaume of Aquitaine (cf genealogy of the sovereigns of Provence here). This assumption rests on the fact that the origin of downward of Boson of Arles (885- † 936) for certain historians is rejected because this Boson would have had only girls.
Assumption 2 : Boson II, small son of Boson of Arles (885- † 936) by Rotbold the Old one (c.907- † 936), wire of a first bed of that-ci.
- Of a first bed (not identified) preceding its marriage with Willa by Burgundy into 912, Boson of Arles has a child, Roubaud I or Rotbold the Old one also said Rotbold de Spolète (C. 907 - 936) which marries Ermengarde of Aquitaine and is assassinated on order of his/her uncle the king Hugues of Arles into 936 probably at the same time as his/her father at the time of an coup attempt of state against it the last.
Assumption 3 : Boson II and Boson Ier, same and only a personne
- Certain authors, as P.A. February identify Boson Ier and Boson II, the father of Guillaume of Provence, like only one and even nobody; and of this fact make die Boson Ier into 968. Against this assertion, certain authors note that this Boson would have lived 73 years and would have had children at a advanced age, at almost 60 years.
