Borough

In many Anglo-Saxon countries, the boroughs are administrative units of a Ville, comparable with the municipal districts in France, Belgium and with the Canada.

In general, a borough is

  • a division of a city or city

  • or a city which does not have the statute of city. According to this direction, a borough would have a Maire, and a city a “Lord Mayor”.

London

London is made up, in addition to " City of London " (a district exclusively dedicated today to the businesses), of 32 boroughs (see the list in the article devoted to with the ''' Area of " Large Londres" ''').

New York

New York is made up of five districts ( boroughs ): Manhattan, Brooklyn, the Queens, the Bronx and Staten Island. Into French, one translates (but it is about an approximation) the boroughs of New York by districts .
