Borough-in-Bresse is a common French, prefecture of the department of the Ain, in the area the Rhone-Alps.
The pronunciation of the name of the city east “ Bourquanbresse ” or simply “ Bourque ” (), the pronunciation meets too.
The inhabitants are called the Burgiens . The adjective bressan , used formerly, referring more today only to the Bresse.
During the French revolution the city was called Regenerated Bourg.
The medieval period is better known. Borough is high with the row of free city in 1250. Its destiny related to that of the house of Savoy, got a new expansion to him. At the beginning of the 15th century it was chosen by the dukes of Savoy like capital of the Bresse. In 1535 it was taken by the French and recovery by the duke Philibert Emmanuel, who transformed it into place-strong. So that later on the city six months the seat of the troops of Henri IV resisted.
Finally the city was yielded with the Bresse to France in 1601.
During the Revolution, the city takes the name of Ear-D' Gold .
In 1814, the city was plundered by the Austrian troops in reprisals of its resistance.

This activity represents approximately a thousand of direct uses on sites belonging to international groups (Mittal Steel, Nexans).
This dynamism results in a relatively low unemployment rate (6%). The size of the city, modest compared to the population of the department (50 000 inhabitants for more than 500.000 in Ain), has a margin of considerable growth.
Borough in Bresse is the seat of the Chamber of commerce and industry of Ain.
The city also counts a school intended for the young deaf persons, the Institute of the Young Deaf persons.
The interassociatif congress 2007 of Esperanto in France was held in Borough-in-Bresse from May 25th to 29th 2007.

The historical quarters were surrounded by ramparts demolished at the 19th century.
the Cathedral " Our-Dame" (1505 - 1695). It is a Gothic church for its old part. The Stalles are of 1530, the frontage is 16th century (Renaissance) with a gate of 1545. Inside (1532) are a Jubé and the Mausolée S of Marguerite de Bourbon, Philibert the Beautiful and of Marguerite of Austria, surmounted of their Gisant. The vault of the Virgin and the stalls are also decorated with control.
the Museum of Husks, introduces a rich person collection of French, Flemish art and Italian of the 15th century at the 20th century.
