Borough-Madam
Borough-Madam ( Guingueta of Ix in Catalan) is a common French, located in the department of the the Eastern Pyrenees and the area Languedoc-Roussillon.
Its inhabitants is called Guinguettois, because the city historically is called Guingueta of Ix .
Geography
Located in Cerdagne on the Trunk road 20 at the Confluent of the Angoustrine and the Sègre (left bank), Affluent of the Èbre which on part of its course is used as Frontière between France and the Spain; on Right Bank the town of Puigcerdà is.
Its frontier position is more curious: in south-west, the Spanish cerdagne; in the North-East, the Spanish enclave of Llivia. The commune is thus crimped between two Spanish territories, and forms a kind of arch on the basis of France and joining France. Its communal limits thus correspond to nearly 70% with limits of State. This situation is rare; let us quote two other examples, but not so atypical: Bousignies-on-Rock (80% of its communal limits are the Belgian border) and Lauterbourg, forming the north-eastern angle of the French metropolis.
