Boris Vladimirovitch Assafiev (in; ), born on July 17th of the Calendar Julien/July 29th 1884 with Saint-Pétersbourg, dead the January 27th 1949 with Moscow, is a critical Compositeur and Russian.

Life

Assafiev studies philosophy with the Université of Saint-Pétersbourg and the music, with Nikolaï Rimski-Korsakov and Anatoli Liadov, with the Conservatoire, where he becomes later professor. In 1910, it becomes repeater of ballet to the Théâtre Mariinski of Saint-Pétersbourg. As from 1921, it directs the department of music of the National institute of history of Article In 1925, it founds the Faculty of Science of the music of the conservatory of Leningrad. As from 1943, it directs the National institute of history of the art of Moscow.

He is the author of several works on type-setters, in particular Glinka, Tchaïkovski, Scriabine and Stravinski, like on the Russian and Czech music, under the pseudonym of Igor Glebov.

He composed several Opéra S, Cendrillon and the Rider of bronze according to the poem of Pouchkine, 27 Ballet S, of which the Fountain of Bakhtchisaraï according to the poem of Pouchkine, lost Illusions according to the novel of Balzac, 5 Symphonie S, a concerto for piano, of the Chamber music and the incidental musics to accompany by the plays of Shakespeare, Tirso de Molina, Sophocle or Schiller.

He obtained the Prix Stalin in 1948 for his monograph on Glinka.
