Boreal Price
The Boreal Prix are the only prices of the French-speaking Canada to being decreed directly by the public of the readers in the kinds of the Science-fiction and the Fantastique, at the time of the annually held Boreal Congrès. The First Boreal Price creates by Elisabeth Vonarburg, was given at the time of the Congress of SF Québécoise held in Chicoutimi, which was also a first, in Norbert Spehner, for his work with the review Requiem-Solaris thus for the foundation (in 1979) and the direction of the Chroniques collection of the Future, with the editions of the Preamble first collection of SF Québécoise. The Boreal Prices, such as known now, were the creation and the initiative of Rene Beaulieu, writer, critic and translator of SF Québécois, at the time of the second Boreal Congress, in 1980, held in Quebec, in collaboration and within the framework of the International fair of the Book of Quebec. The formula of these Prices to known some minor modifications but remains today still rather similar so that it was at the time of its foundation.
