Bordj El Bahri
Bordj El Bahri (ex-Cape Matifou) is a coastal town of Algérie located at the south of the small town of “Algiers Plage” which in fact part of current administrative cutting. It is a formed commune mainly of the districts of: Algiers Beach on the side of the sea, Cossider which is not other than a grouping of buildings attached to the district of Galloul, Kahouet ech' chergui (Coffee of the east); a point even a meeting place and appointment (of formerly) which is currently a large crossroads binding Rouiba-Ain Taya-Tamentfoust-El marsa, made also of a big number of already built small islands of villas called the Breeze Navy and finally by the course matifou where the seat of the town hall is located. This beautiful tourist city, from the presence of the coast and the " complex of the équitation" is to 23 km of the center town of Algiers. Administratively, it is limited by the town of Rouiba to the South, Bordj El Kifane in the West, El Marsa in the East, Ain Taya South-eastern and Tamentfoust in the North-East.
Bordj El Bahri was quoted (under name Cape Matifou) by Leon the African in " the description of Africa (14th century). It had this honor from its historical and geographical place.
Geographically Bordj El Bbahri is with the mouth of the Hamiz. This river does not have any more the importance of formerly since the construction many barages throughout its course. It is located on bank is bay of Algiers. Thus surrounded in the west by the the Mediterranean, in the east by Ain Taya, in north by El Marsa (ex-Jean Bart) and in the south by Bordj el Kiffan (ex-Fort Of Water).
Historically Bordj El Bahri was built by the Romains (several ruins were discovered on sites of " Tamentfoust"). During several historical periods, this village was used as supplier of stone as size extracted the careers from Tamentfoust. The area was also used like garrison city for defense of bay as Algiers, as strong Turkish set up by the Othoman on the point testifies some to Tamentfoust.
The commune of Bordj El Bahri gathers several training centres.
