Boolean
see also: Etymology of Boolean
A Boolean in Logical and data-processing Programmation is a type of Variable in two states. The variables of this type are thus either in a true state or with the state false (in English true and false ).
Generally the conditions are of Boolean type, because they require a binary answer of the type yes or not .
- button inserted : a Boolean condition
- lit light : a Boolean variable
- If button inserted
- then lit light = true
- if not lit light = false
- then lit light = true
Certain languages use the bit to represent the Boolean ones: thus a 0 will represent the value false and a 1 will represent the value true (or the reverse, according to conventions). Other languages will prefer to use English TRUE (true) and FALSE (false) traditionally in capital letters.
