The bookseller generally works in a Librairie where it sells the books.
It receives the representatives of the publishers in order to take note of the innovations to come and to order them consequently (approximately 2000 to 3000 innovations per month). Then the bookseller takes delivery of the innovations (insertions of the corresponding cards in the management software of the store), and arrangement in the store (presentation on table, windows, proposed,…). He advises and informs the customer so that he finds the book which he seeks but can also make him discover new authors…
Qualities necessary
First of all the bookseller must like to read, to know his products, and consequently to advise his customers. He must follow the literary news to present the nouveautés.In addition to the important literary aspect in this trade, a bookseller must above all be a good manager. Indeed, it is brought to manage a stock at the same time on the level of its quantity but more especially the level of its qualité.
An important data of the trade of bookseller is also to be an organizer culturel.
If you plan to become bookseller, it should be known that it is also a physical trade (the books arrive in paperboards and they do not go all alone), relational (the bookseller deals with customers very as much as books) and that high wages are not widespread in the profession.
