Bonloc is a common French, located in the department of the Yrénées-Atlantiques and the area Aquitaine.

Located in the province of the Labourd, Bonloc belongs to the Basque Country.

Its name Basque is Lekuine . Bonlòc ( Boun loc ) means “good place” in Gascon. Lekuine would be the translation leku ona .

The commune is crossed by an affluent of the Adour, the Aran (or Joyeuse ; formerly called Haramburua beyond the house éponyme). A tributary of Merry, Garraldako Erreka also runs on the grounds of the commune.

The toponym Bonloc appears in the forms Ecclesia de Bono Loco (1186, cartulaire of Bayonne), Lo ospital of Good-Loc , Bonlieu and Nostre Rams of Bonloc (respectively 1372,1498 and 1518, chapter of Bayonne).
