Boniface II , born with Rome and of Gothic origin , pope of the September 22nd 530 with the October 17th 532.

It had been indicated by its predecessor to avoid the disorders which accompanied the elections regularly. In fact, it occurred the opposite. Boniface II was supported by the party goth. The Byzantine party opposed Dioscore to him which had had for thirty years a beneficial influence on the successive popes. Dioscore had the good idea to die on October 14th, 530 avoiding with the Roman Church a new schism.

After a pontificate of 2 years and 1 month, it will be buried in the old Saint-Pierre basilica. There is of him a Lettres with Saint Césaire of Arles , in the Epistolae rom.pontificum .
