Bonga (layer)

' Bonga is the first layer of Pétrole to be developed offshore deep (conventionally defined by a depth of water exceeding 300 meters) with the Nigeria.

It is located in the block of exploration OPL 212, with broad of Warri, which was allotted to Shell (and its partner, Agip, Elf and Esso) during the first invitation to tender native of Niger for the deep offshore oil rig in 1993.

The prospective customer was identified by seismic imagery, and the first well was started in September 1995, discovering oil in January 1996. This first layer was estimated at 600 to 1000 million barrels. Western Southern the Bonga layer, to 10 km from there, was discovered in 2001.

Bonga was brought into service at the beginning of 2006, by a FPSO (a floating platform) cash among largest of the world with its 300.000 tons. Production capacity is 225.000 barrils/days, to which 4.2 million cubic meters of Natural gas per day is added, delivered with the factory of liquefaction of Bonny Island via a gas pipeline.

South-western Bonga is even larger than bonga, with reserves exceeding the billion barril, another FPSO will be constuit for him. Bonga and Bonga SO are, for certain sources, the two larger layers of the country.
