Bonfim (Roraima)

Bonfim is a municipality of the State Brésil IEN of the Roraima, whose it constitutes the fifth city of many inhabitants.

The urban area consists of three districts:

  • Getúlio Vargas
  • São Francisco
  • Cidade Nova

History

The locality was born with the site from an American religious mission and became a municipio under the terms of the federal law Nº 7.009 of the July 7th 1982. It has had for this time managed by eight prefects. One finds in Bonfim the ruins of strong São Joaquim.

Geography and transport

It is located on Right Bank of the Rivière Takutu at the border between Brazil and Guyana, on the other side of the river is the Guianese city of Lethem.

It is connected to Boa Vista the distant capital of Roraima of 125 km by the Rodavia BR-401. Moreover there exists a small aerodrome.

Economy

The economy rests above all on the agricultural sector, culture of the Manioc, banana, the Cashew nut, icole culture Riz, culture of the Mil and bovine breeding

Infrastructures

There exists a small public hospital of 24 beds and several medical antennas in the moved back zones, a network of water aduction, a post office and an banking agency. A small military quota is affected with the municipio to supervise the border
