History
In the past the city was covered by the still existing Forêt with Bondy but out of the communal territory bondinois, located today on the communes of Clichy-sous-Bois and Coubron, because of its strong reduction during the centuries. This forest was a reference mark of brigands a long time. The oldest known document mentioning Bondy is the “will of Hermentrude” , dating from the 7th century per which a Christian lady gave some grounds to the Church. End 2005, at the time of preventive excavations, was discovered in the center even of Bondy, close to the church, a Nécropole of a thousand of burials, all confused times, energy of the Bas-Empire at the 14th century. They are one most important the necropoles mérovingiennes (VI {{E}} and 7th century) and Carolingians ever updated in France. In these tombs only some objects were found, including eight Scramasaxe S (short sabers), beautiful plate-buckles in bone and another out of metal, which astonished the archeologists, because usually, the tombs mérovingiennes contain many jewels of glass, weapons, remainders of clothing and various offerings. It is only at the time Carolingian that the offerings were prohibited by the Church, as a pagan practice. In a general way, the studies show that people were during these periods in good health, did not have any food deficiency, and that none of them is deceased of violent death. In the deepest layers of the Necropolis, tombs of the III {{E}} and 4th century were updated. These tombs are directed in all the directions, which shows a mixture of religions and beliefs. These tombs also do not contain any object. Another curiosity is the absence of burials of children.
At the 11th century, Bondy becomes possession of the Abbaye of Saint-Martin-of-Fields.
