The support " Bonding " of Linux (or Chanel bonding or etherchannel at CISCO) " allows; fusionner" two interfaces Ethernet.

It is thus possible to obtain a virtual interface to 200 Mbit/s (2×100 Mbit/s) by marrying the performances of two interfaces Ethernet 100BaseT.

It also makes it possible to make redundancy because if a bond is cut, it rocks automatically on the other.

A standard was developed, the IEEE_802.1ad but is used rather little.

The support of the bonding can be compiled in the kernel or in the shape of a module.
